"LA TANGUILLA", traditional Spanish game

TANGUILLA

Castilian traditional children's game that still practice on a regular basis or as a tradition in various populations. . It is played at least since the twelfth century, although you may have Roman origins. In addition to Castilla, its different variants are played in Galicia and Aragon.

It is a game of marksmanship or "launching precision" and as the town receives different denominations: manga, tarusa, Tuta, pillar, Tanganyika Canutillo etc. Tanguillo The name is commonly used in the village of Palazuelos and generally in the hills north of the province of Guadalajara and surrounding areas of Segovia and Soria

Nowadays in the school we play an adaptation of this game.

This game can be played with as many players as you wish.

You need sticks and circles to be able to play the game. The number of the sticks, which are called “tanguilla”, on the ground depends on the number of the players you have. The more players the more sticks.

Each team consisting of two players, or more, gathers in front of its stick; or there can be one stick for all teams, depending on how you wish it to be.

The players should stand about 2 meters before their sticks to make a shot. This length is changeable for the age levels.
Each player has three shots with three circles. The player in turn has to pass a circle through the stick to get one point.

And for the points, a chart is drawn on the ground by a chalk, or just on a piece of paper, with the initial letters of the players' names and three blanks for each player, and, also, a blank for each player's total point.

After all teams, with their players, finish shooting the circles, the points are counted to find out the winners of each team and the winner of all teams.
