O = oraş = city
M = munte = mountain
A = apă = water (meaning rivers, lakes, seas, oceans)
P = plantă = plant
A = animal = animal
N = nume = name
T = total = total
So, in English, the name of the game would be: CCMWPANT. It doesn’t make sense, so we decided to keep the name in Romanian. Of course you can play this game in your own languages, so the name can change also.
To play this game you need:
- unlimited number of players
- sheets of paper (one for each player)
- pens or pencils
You draw tables with 8 columns on the sheets of paper and in each column you write the name of a category. You can make as many rows as you want (depends on how many games you want to play.)
When you start playing the game you have to choose a letter. So, one of the players starts saying the alphabet silently and another one stops him/her. The last letter said by the player is the letter that has to be used to find words for all the sections, as in the example I gave you.
The first one who finishes all the sections says “stop” and the game finishes. You start counting the points like this:
- if you didn’t write anything – 0 points
- 10 points for each column you filled in
- 5 points – if you have the same word as another player
So, if you filled in all the columns and you don’t have words in common with other players, the total should be 70 points.
Then, you start another game, by saying the alphabet again.
The winner is the player who has the most points.
Note: when children play this game, they draw the papers by hand, they don’t do it at the computer. They just draw with a pencil 7 vertical lines and a horizontal one and then write the names of the sections.
