10th of November-The 71st Anniversary of Ataturk's Death

On the 10th Of November, we commemorated the 71st anniversary of the death of our great leader, Ataturk. At 9.05 -the moment of Ataturk's death- two minutes of silence were observed throughout Turkey. All flags were flown at half staff. Students prepared a wreath to place in front of his statue, read poems for him, remembered his sayings and what he did to make our country independent and modern state.

Some activities in our school-Turkey

These are the photos in our maths class. We were learning division by using leaves. Before the lesson, our teacher told us to bring some leaves to the classroom. We counted them and took 15 of them. One of us acted as a tree, three of us as giraffes and we were 15 leaves in the branches of the tree. Then, 3 giraffes wanted to share the fifteen leaves equally. At the end we found out that each giraffe ate five leaves to share them equally. This was the division. We won't forget that enjoyable maths lesson.

We have a kind of activity that takes place in December. During that week, we bring some food and drinks to our classes and eat them together. Its aim is to encourage to consume domestic products and develop conciousness about it. After the Turkish Independence War, as a country newly come out of a war, our country was poor so it was important to produce and consume domestic products to be self-sufficient and economically independent country. In 1929, it was decided to be a week to help to develop this consciousness.

It must be delicious. Right?

It is called as Kısır. It is a kind
of salad with bulghur.
It is called as Sarma. It is cooked by wrapping rice,
meat and some spice in vine leaves.

Project Works-TURKEY

Dear friends ,
We prepare some works in our lessons after we study on the subject. We call them as project works. In science lesson, we learnt kinetic and flexible potential energy in work and energy unit. Then, we started to build our catapults to see the relation between work and energy. We used
pieces of wood, wooden spoons, rubber bands and screws. After we built them, we put an eraser in the wooden spoon and pulled the spoon back then released it and the energy that was exerted by pulling the spoon back threw the eraser far away from the catapult. Then we saw the energy turned into work.

We also prepared some works about the Sun and Planets. We placed the planets according to their distance from the Sun.
